The school is “delighted and proud” of their upturn in fortunes, following its inspection in November which resulted in a change in grading from “good” to “outstanding”.

Teachers were described as having “excellent subject knowledge” and the ability to “plan interesting lessons that engage and motivate pupils”, while students were lauded for making “outstanding progress” with “high attainment in reading, writing and mathematics”.

The report states that “senior leaders and governors work very well to embed the school’s Catholic values”.

The only area of further improvement noted by inspectors was to raise children’s achievement in the early years by increasing the support and guidance students receive when they are working independently.

Headteacher Angela McNicholas said: “We have always been proud of OLM: our values, our children, our staff, our community.

“To have that pride recognised and vindicated by Ofsted is tremendous news. Ofsted’s classification of our school as “outstanding” recognises that we offer a broad and exciting curriculum in an environment where children feel valued and are nurtured.”
