Musician Mike Skinner will once again take to the decks as DJ at a school’s fireworks night.

More than 2,500 people are expected to descend on Highgate School’s annual fireworks festival on Saturday, which for the first time this year is open to the public as well as pupils and parents.

Mr Skinner, former frontman of band The Streets, will be DJing at the Bonfire Night festivities, after entertaining crowds last year.

Live music, face painting, fairground rides, balloon-making and food stalls will be on offer for families at the senior school field in Bishopswood Road. The evening will be split into two halves, with the first “show” beginning at 4pm and ending at 6.30pm. The gates will then re-open at 7pm for the “late show”, which lasts until 9.30pm.

The event, organised by the school’s parents’ association, will support a number of charities including the north London-based Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice. More than 1,000 tickets have been sold so far.

Tickets are still on sale. £15 for adults and £10 for children.
