More than 500 pupils and parents took part in a festival to celebrate one of the most important holidays in the Chinese calendar.

The Hua Hsia Chinese School marked the annual Dragon Boat Festival at its Hampstead campus at Holy Trinity CofE School in Trinity Walk on Sunday.

Ambassador, Dr Liu Chih-Kung, of the Taipei Representative Office, was guest of honour at the celebrations, which gave pupils a taste of Chinese culture.

Pupils showcased their work before being treated to free rice dumplings – a traditional snack.

A school spokeswoman said: “Everyone who attended the event had fun and a fantastic experience of Chinese culture.”

The school has offered Mandarin and culture lessons since 2001.
