Green Camden pupils launch campaign for £45,000 solar panels on school roof

Green-minded pupils and their parents are urging the community to help them raise £45,000 for solar panels on their school’s roof.
Members of the Green Club at Camden School for Girls in Camden Town want their school to run on renewable energy to drastically cut its carbon footprint.
However, the all-girls school cannot afford to cover the £45,000 bill to install 30kW solar panelling on the school’s roof.
It has prompted the club to launch an online crowdfunding appeal asking people to give as much as they can.
A pledge of £10 will earn donators a “thank you”, while £50 will win you an invitation to the campaign’s launch party.
A donation of £375 is enough to cover the cost of one solar panel.
If the club can raise the money, the solar panels would cut the school’s carbon emissions by 13.1 tonnes a year.
