A handful of pupils from two Camden schools have starred in a musical directed by university students.

Fifteen pupils from UCL Academy, Adelaide Road, Swiss Cottage and Regent High School, Somers Town, came together to perform High School Musical On-Stage at the Shaw Theatre in Euston Road last week.

The show was produced and directed by six members of University College London’s (UCL) Musical Theatre Society and it is the second year that UCL has collaborated with the schools.

The house was packed to capacity every night with about 400 theatre fans attending.

Fellow students from both schools and St Aloysius Infants School, King’s Cross, also watched a matinée performance.

Richard Harrison, director of community engagement at Regent High School, said: “The experience has enriched us all and has been fun.

“There’s definitely something different about everyone being involved. All the pupils have really enjoyed working with each other and a leading university.

“It is a phenomenal achievement.”
