Parents across Camden and Haringey have found out today which primary schools their children will be going to in September.

In Camden 81.5 per cent of families got a place at their first choice of school – a 1pc increase from last year, but about 4pc below the London average.

This year the number of children in Camden going to one of their top three preferences has remained roughly the same (92pc).

Cllr Angela Mason, Camden Council’s education chief, said: “More than nine out of ten children in Camden have been offered a place at one of their top three preferences which is excellent news for parents and their children.

“Every Camden child has been offered a reception place at one of our primary schools from September, the second consecutive year all Camden residents have received an offer.”

While in Haringey 90.7pc of families received the top option, which is a threepc increase on 2016 and 4pc above the capital’s average. In terms of top three preferences, 98.3pc of families were successful – an increase of just over 2pc from last year.

Pupils who have not been allocated a place at one of their preferred schools have either been offered an alternative or will shortly be advised of their options.

If children are offered a school which is not their first choice, they will automatically go onto the waiting list for the schools which were a higher preference than the one they were offered. Places will be filled in the order of the school’s oversubscription criteria from the list as vacancies arise over the coming weeks.

Parents who are dissatisfied with their child’s offer may appeal to an independent panel.
