Budding thespians at Portland Place School took to the stage to perform the first play acted out solely by the upper school.

Held at Theatro Technis, parents, staff and pupils were treated to a production of Our Country’s Good – a play centred on a group of Royal Marines and convicts in a penal colony in New South Wales

Rehearsals have been intensive with the pupils dedicating five hours per week since September to perfect their roles.

Head of drama David Chivers, who directed the play, said: “Our Country’s Good is one of my favourite plays and one that I have wanted to direct since playing Harry Brewer during my own A-levels.

“It has been great to see the students develop their stage craft and individual performance skills.

“Full credit goes to them for balancing rehearsals with their school work and sports.”
