An army of schoolchildren, staff and parents have raised £2,000 by taking part in a sponsored walk around Highgate Woods.

The 140 Muswell Hill Primary School walkers took part in the event – which was organised by the staff parent association in a bid to drum up funds for the school – on May 21.

A nature trail was designed for students to follow and pupils took part in the walk in specially designed t-shirts.

Headteacher, James Wiltshire said: “We are incredibly lucky to have such enthusiastic pupils and hugely supportive parents.

“Everyone involved with our school cares so much about it and this sponsored walk is just one example of our school spirit in action.

“It’s no secret that schools are up against it when it comes to funding and we are very fortunate to have a thriving staff parents’ association working throughout the year to come up with ways of raising money for our school.

“I am incredibly proud of all our pupils and would like to say a huge thank you to all those who joined us on Sunday to help raise money.”

Healthy snacks were donated by businesses Planet Organic and Marks & Spencer.
