Pop star Taylor Swift is reportedly creating a permanent European base in North London, with plans to revamp a mansion that once belonged to a politician.

The American pop superstar is spending more than £10 million on a private estate in an exclusive part of North London.

The mansion will feature luxury appointments including a swimming pool and even an orangery, planning documents reveal.

The property formerly belonged to a politician.

The revamp is reported to be underway, with workers tailoring it to the singer's needs.

The pop star wrote songs like London Boy in 2019 showcasing her love for the city.

She has dated British singers Harry Styles, who famously now lives in Hampstead, and Calvin Harris, who at one point lived in Primrose Hill.

"It is no secret that Taylor loves London, and she has been looking for a base in the capital for a long time," a source told the Sun.

They further added: "She loves the culture and vibe of the city, and is particularly at home in North London, so this estate makes perfect sense.

"Her song London Boy was a love letter to the city as much as it was to a bloke, and that is why so many areas are mentioned in it.

"She is thrilled with this new property as it gives her roots here, but is taking her time to make sure it fits all her needs and is ultra secure."

The singer, who had previously resided in London with Joe Alwyn, is dating NFL star Travis Kelce.

With Alwyn, she had lived in Crouch End and later Primrose Hill, often seen with close friend Zoe Kravitz.

If the need to record new songs arises, Swift will find herself a short distance away from the legendary Abbey Road Studios, used by The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Amy Winehouse and Adele.

Taylor Swift will be performing for a total of eight concert dates in London's Wembley Stadium, three in June and five in August 2024, as par of her Eras Tour.
