The Conservative candidate for Westminster North has sensationally quit - just weeks away from the General Election.

Joanne Cash, one of David Cameron's A-list female parliamentary candidates, made the surprise announcement at an emergency meeting held in Westbourne Grove last night.

Tory Party chairman Eric Pickles was also at the meeting and defended Ms Cash during discussions.

A Wood&Vale reporter was the only member of the press to attend the meeting and witness first-hand the shock turn of events.

Ms Cash is yet to officially confirm the reason behind her departure.

For full details of how the meeting developed, read this week's Wood&Vale, out on Thursday.
