Paddington teenager to represent her country in Gold Coast, Australia later this year

Teenager Tin-Tin Ho is aiming for more Commonwealth Games glory after being named in the England squad to travel to Australia.

The 19-year-old from Paddington has been named alongside Kelly Sibley, Maria Tsaptsinos and Denise Payet in the line-up for the games, which begin in Gold Coast in April.

Having won mixed doubles silver alongside Liam Pitchford as a 15-year-old at Glasgow 2014, Ho has great memories of her last Games experience.

“I’m really excited, especially as it’s in Australia,” said Ho of her selection. “It’s my second Commonwealths and the last one was a really good experience. It was my first big multi-sports event, so I know what to expect this time.

“I remember Glasgow really well. I was the youngest player and felt I had no pressure and went out and enjoyed it.”

And she is confident she will get to stand on the podium again, whether in team, singles or doubles events.

She added: “In the team event, I think it will be quite hard but I think we can win a medal. India and Singapore will be good, and Malaysia and Canada.

“My goal is to get an individual medal too but I know that will be really tough. It’s something I can work towards and see what happens.”

England men’s squad comprises Paul Drinkhall, Sam Walker, Liam Pitchford and David McBeath.

Ho has already been named in the England squad for the Team World Cup, to be held at the Copper Box Arena in London from February 22-25.
