Saracens’ Allianz Park stadium became a temporary base for the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers today as they prepared for their American football showdown with the Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.
The players went through their paces on Saracens’ state-of-the-art 4G playing surface, and 49ers star cornerback Tyrell Brown was full of praise for the artificial surface.
“The other field we have been training on this week was muddy and difficult to train on, so just coming out here and getting to play on this great turf has definitely helped us get our footing right,” he said.
“It’s a great opportunity to come out here, its a blessing and we are really enjoying it.”
Allianz Park stadium director, Gordon Banks, said: “To welcome the San Francisco 49ers to Allianz Park today has been fantastic.
“It has been a joy to work with organisations like the 49ers and the NFL who have the same values as us here at Saracens.
“We believe that Allianz Park is multipurpose facility that can host a variety of sporting events, so to welcome such a prestigious and high-profile organsiation such as the San Francisco 49ers goes a long way to justifying that belief.
“We are looking forward to welcoming the NFL back to Allianz Park in the future”.
