Jacques Burger’s “simply outstanding” month has earned him the title of Aviva Premiership Rugby Player of the Month for September, it was confirmed today.
The Namibian star was instrumental in seeing Saracens complete an almost perfect month, taking 19 points from their four games and topping the top-flight table above Northampton Saints.
“Jacques has been simply outstanding in September,” said Aviva ambassador Austin Healey. “He has played with a hunger that can only be born out of a frustrating 18 months of injury.
“Both he and Saracens should be very proud of sticking through what I’m sure will have been dark times whilst getting back to full fitness.”
Saracens ended September as the only unbeaten side in the Premiership and the joint leading try-scorers with Leicester Tigers and Northampton Saints on 14.
Burger beat Northampton Saints centre Luther Burrell and Bath Rugby outside-half George Ford to the first title of the season after they were shortlisted by a prestigious media panel.
Burger wins a trophy from title sponsor Aviva and £250 to donate to a charity of his choice.
