Betfred League One: West Wales Raiders 12 London Skolars 62

London Skolars recorded their biggest ever away victory in beating Betfred League One bottom club West Wales Raiders 62-12.

Skolars eased to victory, thanks in part to hat-tricks from both Iliess Macani and Lamont Bryan as they snapped an seven-game losing run and collected just their third away win of the season.

Bryan opened the scoring, running crossfield, before straightening up and going over close to the posts.

Two minutes later, Elliot Hall finished off a break down the right and from the next set, Iliess Macani touched down from a Lameck Juma kick.

When Vinny Finigan scored in the corner from a Juma pass, Skolars had scored four tries in a seven-minute blast where West Wales had no possession.

After Will Martin had been held up over the tryline, Juma dived over from dummy half.

Eddie Mbaraga went over soon after, with Macani and Bryan each scoring their second try of the afternoon before half-time.

The onslaught continued in the second half with Finigan adding his second try.

The Llanelli-based Raiders got on the scoreboard when Nye Walker cut through the London defence to score on the left, but the respite was short-lived.

Macani used his strength to force his way over wide out on the right for his hat-trick.

On a hot day, tempers flared with Billy Driver and Connor Farrer both being sin-binned for their part in a fracas.

A break from a scrum by Finigan saw Juma race over for his second try.

West Wales scored late on through Phil Cowburn, but Skolars rounded the game off with Bryan brushing off the defence in the final minute for his hat-trick.

Skolars are at home this Saturday, taking on Coventry Bears at New River Stadium.

When the sides met earlier in the season, London claimed a 28-20 success at Butts Park Arena at the end of April.

Skolars will hope they can do the double over Bears this weekend and start stringing wins together.

Heading into Saturday’s game with Coventry, London sit 11th in the table having collected nine points from their 15 games so far this season.
