London Wasps have signed Saracens winger James Short from Saracens on a loan deal for the remainder of the season.
Short, who has been recently playing with Championship Bedford Blues, where he is dual registered, bolsters a Wasps back-line which has been affected by numerous injuries of late, including Christian Wade, Ben Jacobs, Andrea Masi and Hugo Southwell, who are all out at the moment.
Short will provide wing cover for Dai Young’s side for the remainder of the season, an option Young says will allow him to look at players in other positions as well.
“We’ve been very unlucky with injuries to key players in our back-line,” Young said.
“James is a very experienced Premiership player and adding him to our wing options means a few of our versatile backs could provide back-up in others areas as well, so we’re very pleased to bring him in for the rest of the season.”
Sarries director of rugby, Mark McCall, said: “James is an extremely talented winger with a bright future in the game, but it is important that he keeps getting game time at the highest level, and this arrangement with Wasps is a win-win.”
