Sprinter Sacre bids to extend his unbeaten record over fences in the Victor Chandler Chase at Ascot on January 19 where he priced at 1-6 with the sponsors.
The 2012 Arkle victor and winner of 10 of his 12 races has easily won all of his six starts over fences. So dominant has the now seven-year-old been over the larger obstacles his narrowest winning margin is the six length romp he recorded in a Grade 2 at Newbury last February.
The manner of the Newbury win, where he led from seven out before going clear three fences from the finish, led his regular rider Barry Geraghty to heap praise on the gelding who comfortably won the Arkle at his next start.
“I’ve ever ridden anything like that – he’s electric,” Geraghty said. “He could be the best I have ever ridden. He’s mind-blowing.
“He makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. He is the real deal. He’s not amazing at home but when he’s on the track he jumps, travels and does everything so easily.”
