Great Britain’s women lost the second match of their five-Test series in Rosario on Sunday, as captain Alex Danson made her 100th appearance.

Hollie Pearne-Webb won her 50th GB cap, with both achivements marked with a pre-match presentations from coach Danny Kerry.

Great Britain took the lead in the first half, as they had in the first meeting between the two sides a day earlier, as Ellie Rayer reacted quickest in the D to convert a loose ball when Danson’s original effort was kept out by Belen Succi.

But Argentina were back on level terms just before the first break as Delfina Merino’s reverse-stick shot gave Rose Thomas no chance in goal.

And the home side took the lead on the stroke of half time when Maria Jose Granatto lifted the ball over Thomas.

Julieta Jankunas made it 3-1 towards the end of the third quarter, deflecting in at the near post after a good move on the left.

And GB could not find a response ahead of their third meeting on Wednesday (9.30pm UK time).

Coach Kerry paid tribute to Danson, saying: “Alex’s leadership on this trip has taken that skill to a new level and there can’t be many prouder people than me to see her receive her 100th cap.

“She is an inspiration to so many inside and outside of our sport.”
