Haringey Huskies have announced the re-signing of utility player Ali Band ahead of the 2018/19 National League South Two season.

The 28-year-old Band spent all of his junior career at the palace before a debuting with the then Haringey Greyhounds in 2005, from there his career took him to Lee Valley, Romford, Canberra (AIHL), Bristol, Invicta and Cardiff before returning to the Palace in 2013 to play for the Haringey Racers who he eventually ending up captaining for two seasons.

He then joined the Huskies last season, in which he eclipsed 100 games played for Haringey senior teams.

After a string of injuries that plagued his hockey since 2016 he is now back to full health and looking to make a big impact again this season.

General Manager Lee Mercer said: “Bandy is a big part of Haringey hockey, he’s been the longest serving Haringey player in the room and is a leader in the dressing room.

“It would be great if he could hit the net as he has a cracking shot when he gets it right but he puts his body on the line for his teammates week in week out, and plays with his heart on his sleeve, so I’ll let him off.”
