Glen Little has been promoted from his role as assistant manager at the Maurice Rebak Stadium club

Wingate & Finchley have confirmed a change to their management team with Nicky Shorey stepping down from his role as first-team boss.

The news was confirmed by the Bostik Premier club on Monday evening and brings the former England left-back’s short stint in charge to an end.

Shorey’s assistant Glen Little will step up and take the reins having managed the past two games.

A statement on the official club website read: “Wingate & Finchley can announce that Nicky Shorey has unfortunately stepped down from his role as manager at the club due to unforeseen other commitments.

“Nicky goes with our best wishes, and we are able and delighted to confirm that Glen Little will continue in his role.

“During our efforts to find a solution with Nicky over the past week, Glen has managed the last two matches.

“His first game in charge was the Cockfosters 6-1 win, and he was also in charge for the 2-1 away win at Sittingbourne in the FA Trophy on Saturday.

“Glen joined the club along with Nicky and quickly established himself as a key member of the management staff.

“He will continue alongside the club’s existing coaching structure that is already in place. We wish Nicky well for the future.”
