Tottenham Hotspur will be ready to handle whatever Liverpool throw at them at Anfield this weekend according to Mauricio Pochettino.

Spurs will be looking to back up Wednesday’s fine showing against Manchester United in Merseyside on Sunday.

With Tottenham just two points behind third-placed Liverpool, the game represents a crucial match in the battle for a Champions League place.

Pochettino said: “The most important thing now is to keep going and to be consistent, but it will not be easy to keep up this type of performance because we will be playing every three or four days and of course, we will need the whole squad to play.

“We need to now rest and assess the players to be ready to play Liverpool, who are a very good team.

“For me they are one of the best in England and we need all the players in a very good mental and physical condition.

“We need to make sure we can use the squad. Maybe we will rotate or maybe we will not, but we need to see what is going on now.”

After Wednesday’s win over United, talk turned to Sunday’s clash with Jurgen Klopp’s team and Tottenham record away to the top-six.

Spurs have notoriously struggled on the road against the likes of Manchester City, United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal.

But Pochettino choose to focus on their overall record against the best sides in the league and not just their award form.

He added: “In my three-and-a-half years I think our record is good. I don’t know, but in the end you are talking about big sides like United, City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea and we are Tottenham.”

At Wembley, Spurs have achieved several notable results with the wins over Real Madrid (3-1) and Liverpool (4-1) stand-out moments prior to Wednesday’s victory.

The next challenge for this improving squad is to do it away from home and belief will be high after the dominating display against Jose Mourinho’s United.

Pochettino said: “I think we have played plenty of good games like Real Madrid and Liverpool and now this one, so I think we have had a lot of good performances at Wembley.

“Of course, we were against Manchester United, a great team, so to dominate and play and deserve the result, where we don’t concede a goal and keep a clean sheet, the team deserves a lot of credit.”
