Tottenham turned on the style in the second half to ease past Fulham and increase the Whites’ relegation fears with three games to go.

Paulinho had given the Lilywhites a 35th minute lead when he turned home Christian Eriksen’s free kick but Spurs were pegged back two minutes later with Steve Sidwell firing home.

But, as has often been the case for Tottenham this season, they turned up the heat to put the game beyond doubt just past the hour mark.

First Harry Kane headed home from Aaron Lennon’s corner to score his third goal in three games.

Then another Eriksen free-kick was knocked home by Younes Kaboul on 62 minutes to settle the game.

The Whites had a golden opportunity to pull a goal back in the 77th minute after the Dane handled in the area.

However, Hugo Lloris was able to get a hand to Sidwell’s powerful, but too central, penalty.

Anyone that has been watching Spurs this season will know that the Lilywhites are slow starters and their quickest goal in the league this season came after 18 minutes.

So it was no surprise to see the north Londoners struggle to assert themselves as Fulham came out of the traps to try and grab an early lead.

The home side did come close to opening the scoring after Paulinho’s ball into the box fell to Aaron Lennon.

His shot took a slight deflection off John Arne Riise but Whites goalkeeper David Stockdale was on hand to tip it onto the post.

Spurs did take the lead 10 minutes later and Eriksen, as he has been so often this season, was the architect.

His free kick, after Ashkan Dejagah felled Lennon, was whipped into the backpost and Paulinho knocked the ball home.

Tottenham have been masters of their own downfall this season and they once again conceded a sloppy goal just 114 seconds later.

Zeki Fryers presented the ball to Sidwell, who rode the challenge of Kyle Naughton, and lofted the ball over Lloris to restore parity for Felix Magath’s side.

Boos greeted the half-time whistle as Spurs had not been at the races for the majority of the first half but that soon changed in the second half.

A collector’s item of a Lennon left-footed cross was met by the head of Kane and guided into the corner.

Spurs nearly threw the lead away again soon after going ahead as Hugo Rodallega’s powerful header was brilliantly tipped over the bar by Lloris.

Tottenham wrapped up the points on 62 minutes when another Eriksen free kick, this time after John Heitinga brought down Danny Rose.

The Dane’s cross found Kaboul at the back post and he directed the ball into the roof of the net.

Lloris came to Tottenham’s rescue for the third time of the afternoon when Eriksen handled the ball in the area.

Sidwell stepped up and his powerful penalty was too close to the Frenchman who beat the ball away and maintain the two goal advantage.

The Frenchman made another good stop to deny Fernando Amorebieta as the clock ticked down as Spurs picked up the win.

The result leaves Tottenham six points clear of Manchester United, although they have played two games more, while Fulham remain in the relegation zone.
