Two local clubs will do battle again tonight at Coles Park after their first match ended 1-1 at the weekend

Haringey Borough manager Tom Loizou wants his team to finish the job they started and make it through to the next round of the FA Trophy tonight.

The Coles Park club were minutes away from reaching the second qualifying round on Saturday when they conceded a late penalty at Harrow Borough.

Borough’s Kurtis Cumberbatch scored from the spot to cancel out Ralston Gabriel’s first-half opener and ensure a replay would take place this evening (7.45pm kick-off).

Loizou said: “It’s frustrating and what can you do. We just need to pick ourselves up and go again and hopefully at our place we can do the business.”

Haringey, of the Bostik North, created the better opportunities at Earlsmead Stadium and should have gone through to the next round.

After Gabriel drilled into the corner following an exceptional back heel by Ruaridh Kay, the visitors squandered several good second-half chances.

Gabriel, Anthony McDonald and David Olufemi were all denied by fine saves from Harrow goalkeeper Melvin Minter.

But Haringey were punished for some naivety in the 89th minute when they won the ball deep inside the hosts half.

Instead of keeping it in the corner, Kai Heather picked out Gabriel inside the area, yet he tried to round Minter and lost possession.

The Reds then went straight down the other end and Michael Bryan was brought down, which saw referee Craig Barnett point to the penalty spot.

Cumberbatch stepped up and coolly sent Valery Pajetet the wrong way to set up a replay tonight.

“Anyone watching could see we were head and shoulders above them. We had more pace and created more chances and passed it better,” said Loizou.

“If our finishing was a little bit better it could have been 4-1 or 5-1, but that’s what happens when you don’t take your chances.

“With a minute to go we are trying to score goals instead of keeping it in the corner and it is ridiculous.

“Maybe I made the wrong substitution. Maybe I should have kept ‘Macca’ on because he can keep the ball or brought Ayrton (Coley) on who can keep the ball.

“Instead I went for the second to push them back. It worked on Wednesday night (at Grays Athletic), but it didn’t work this time.”

The two clubs will now do battle all over again this evening to decide who earns a spot in the second qualifying round where they’ll visit Sittingbourne or Merstham.
