Sutton United manager Paul Doswell had plenty of praise for Hendon after their 3-0 victory in the second round of the FA Trophy.

The U’s progressed into the last 16 of the competition where they will face an away trip to either Brackley Town or Barrow.

Doswell’s men cruised to a comfortable victory against the Greens thanks to goals from Kieron Cadogan, Adam Coombes and Tommy Wright at Gander Green Lane on Saturday.

“I’ve watched a lot of Hendon this last three or four weeks and we really think they’re a good side,” Doswell said.

“Certainly in the league they’re in they’re a good side and their front four have caused teams problems all season.

“I watched a lot of YouTube on them as well and some of their movement has been excellent, so we were very prepared for what Hendon would be about and we went about it professionally, which I thought was really important.”

The manager revealed it was never going to be an easy task against the Bostik Premier Division high-flyers.

“The game was one that was always going to take longer than an hour to get the win,” he said.

“I thought second-half we created chance after chance and I think when the second went in, it was well deserved.”

Doswell also admitted the second and third goals from Adam Coombes and Tommy Wright were vital to their progression.

“You always need a second goal, we said at half-time we’re ok with what we’ve done, but we knew at 1-0 the game wasn’t over.

“Whilst it was 1-0 that’s very much where Hendon are quality and they’ll stay in the game, so the second-goal was needed and I’d even go as far to say it wasn’t until the third goal I felt really comfortable, as taking a look at the goals they’ve scored we knew they could attack and score goals.”
