Ryman Premier: Shane Gore claims trio of awards at Wingate & Finchley’s presentation evening

Wingate are holding open trials for their youth-sections next week at Old Stationers, Barnet Lane

Wingate & Finchley held their 2016/17 presentation evening for the first team after securing a Ryman Premier play-off spot on Saturday evening.

In a season in which the side set a club record for points haul (75) and finishing position (5th) - three players picked up trophies.

Shane Gore claimed three of the main awards while Reece Beckles took home two and Sean Cronin received one.

In addition to this, chairman Aron Sharpe - celebrating his tenth year in charge - presented Peter Rebak with a framed collage of the stadium renaming ceremony held back in August in honour of club founder Maurice Rebak.

The season is of course not over yet, with a play-off semi-final to look forward to away at Bognor Regis Town on Thursday night.

The award winners in full were: Top goalscorer - Reece Beckles, Player of the season - Shane Gore, Directors’ Player of the season - Sean Cronin, Young Player of the year - Reece Beckles, Players’ player of the season - Shane Gore, Supporters’ player of the season - Shane Gore, Club Person of the year - Mark Felstein.

While Wingate’s first-team still have plenty to play for, the youth-teams are holding trials next week.

Players of EJA/Ex-Academy Standard are invited to visit Old Stationers, Barnet Lane for the Blues open trial day.

Studded footwear only for the 3G surface and players must turn up with correct kit, footwear and shinpads.

Registration for the under-14s takes place at 9.30am before the trial starts at 10am and finishes at 12pm.

The under-15s also register at the same time, but the under-16s, under-17s and under-18s need to register by 12.30pm with their trials taking place between 1pm to 3pm.
