Transfer News: QPR manager Harry Redknapp is a fan of Mo Diame, Nicolas Anelka, Robbie Keane and Tim Cahill but has claimed it is unlikely that the R’s will sign them.
The west Londoners are bottom of the Premier League and the 65-year-old is keen to bring in reinforcements.
Redknapp said of Diame, who is rumoured to have a clause in his contract that would allow him to leave this month: “He’s a good player but he belongs to West Ham.
“I don’t know how it works and whether he has got a clause in his contract.
“He’s a top player.”
When asked about Anelka, Redknapp replied: “He’s a good player but big wages.”
Robbie Keane worked with Redknapp at Tottenham and has moved to America and has been touted for a loan move after the QPR boss admitted there was an interest.
“Robbie is a top player,” the R’s boss added. “To bring somebody in like Robbie and Timmy Cahill and may be out for a loan and you’re talking about six weeks and then you lose them it makes it difficult.
“They’d improve any team. They’re fantastic pros and great players.
“They’re interesting players but only short-term loans. There’s no point in losing them when we’re in a relegation battle.”
The Rangers boss admitted that he is in constant contact with CEO Phil Beard over signings.
“I speak to Phil every day about it,” he explained. “I’m sure we’ll come up with one or two.”
Tottenham have missed their chance to sign Joao Moutinho after last summer’s primary transfer target agreed a five-year deal with Monaco.
