GOALKEEPER – Wojciech Szczesny (Arsenal): Made several important saves to keep Sunderland at bay with a patched up defence in front of him and coped with the sending off of Carl Jenkinson as well.

DEFENDER – Cesar Azpilicueta (Chelsea): Capped an excellent week for club and country with a solid performance against Wigan.

DEFENDER – Bacary Sagna (Arsenal): Was forced into a central role against Sunderland and came out of it with plenty of credit.

DEFENDER – Luke Wilkinson (Dagenham & Redbridge): Kept former Dagger Paul Benson quiet for the majority of the match and rose to the occasion well. When Benson did look like pouncing, was there with a fine last ditch block and helped the Daggers to their 10th clean sheet of the season.

MIDFIELDER – Gareth Bale (Tottenham): It’s tempting to write ‘produced a typical Gareth Bale performance’ as the Welshman was the difference between Spurs and Newcastle.

MIDFIELDER – David Luiz (Chelsea): Captained Brazil well in midweek and made the difference for the Blues against Wigan.

MIDFIELDER – Ramires (Chelsea): Produced one of his best performances in a Blue shirt and capped it with a goal against the Latics.

MIDFIELDER – Luke Howell (Dagenham & Redbridge): Scored his eighth goal of the season in the excellent 1-0 win over Cheltenham on Saturday, and continued to show his worth to the Daggers with a solid all round performance to back it up.

MIDFIELDER – Jack Wilshere (Arsenal): The 21-year-old earns his place in our team after his excellent performance against Brazil for England on Wednesday.

STRIKER – Charlie MacDonald (Leyton Orient): Bagged the first goal as the O’s shocked promotion chasing Tranmere.

STRIKER – Kevin Phillips (Crystal Palace): Helped the Eagles to a 2-2 draw against Watford by bagging the equaliser against the Hornets.
