Transfer news: Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers refused to give details of the pay-off the Anfield outfit are handing Joe Cole ahead of his proposed move to West Ham.
Rodgers’ side have had a busy start to the transfer window, with Daniel Sturridge sealing his move from Chelsea last night.
Sturridge’s arrival appears to have coincided with Cole’s exit with the midfielder having talks with the Hammers over a permanent deal.
Liverpool are reportedly willing to negotiate a pay-off on the 31-year-old’s £100,000-a-week contract but Rodgers wouldn’t say how much it came to.
“I’m not sure a deal has been totally agreed,” Rodgers said.
“I spoke to him a couple of times earlier and he was talking with West Ham.
“I don’t know the total ins and outs of that (Cole’s pay-off).”
Emmanuel Adebayor said Clint Dempsey “showed Tottenham the way” as his equalising goal inspired Andre Villas-Boas’ side to a crucial 2-1 win over Stoke City on Sunday.
