Internacional president Giovanni Luigi has revealed that Tottenham made a €20m bid for striker Leandro Damião in the January transfer window that was rejected.
Reports suggested that Napoli, AC Milan and Juventus were all interested in the striker, but the Inter supremo said that the only interest came from Spurs.
“I’ve never had offers from them, the only real interest and advances came from England,” Luigi said.
“Tottenham last January submitted a bid of €20m. The player is still here, you can imagine what that meant.”
Andre Villas-Boas thinks Tottenham may have succeeded in their final day push for Champions League football had referee Andre Marriner awarded Gareth Bale a penalty - rather than book him for diving.
