Niko Muir hit a hat-trick as Hendon took the Bostik Premier points at Silver Jubilee Park.

Muir struck twice in a strong opening by the home side, in front of a crowd of 292, and completed his treble before the hour mark.

The only blot on his performance was a yellow card – the game’s only caution – for kicking the ball away.

Hendon had fallen to a 1-0 loss at Tonbridge Angels in their opening fixture of the season on Saturday, but needed only seven minutes to open their account on home turf as Muir was set up by Daniel Uchechi.

A second goal arrived on 19 minutes when Keagan Cole saw his shot saved by visiting keeper Joe Wright and Muir reacted quickest to tuck home the rebound.

But Enfield were given a chance to get back into the game seven minutes into the second half when they were awarded a penalty, only to see Greens keeper Tom Lovelock parry the spot-kick from Drew Roberts and then smother the loose ball.

Muir made them pay three minutes later as he produced a close-range finish to complete his hat-trick following a fine team move that had torn the visiting defence apart.

And Hendon might have won by a wider margin, but for some fine saves by Wright in the remaining half-hour of play.

Gary McCann’s men are back in action on Saturday when they welcome Harlow Town.

Hendon: Lovelock, Eggleton, Murphy, Tingey (Diedhiou 46), Bray, Lee, Cole, Ball (Stanislaus 69), Joseph, Muir (Ibe 79), Uchechi. Unused subs: Currie, Pedro.
