‘Football on the Flats’ hopes to raise money for Scope, the UK’s largest disability charity, with an 11-a-side tournament on August 26

A charity football tournament will take place at Wanstead Flats later this month to raise money for Scope, the UK’s largest disability charity.

‘Football on the Flats’ will take place over the Bank Holiday weekend at the end of the month, from 10.30am to 1.30pm on August 26.

Teams, as well as individual players, are being invited to enter the competition, with all squads taking part in three 30-minute matches.

There is a suggested donation of £15 per player to sign up for the event, with all proceeds going to Scope.

In addition to the football, there will also be a summer fete with a fresh lemonade stand donated by Wild Goose Bakery and cakes for sale.

There will also be family friendly games and a raffle with fantastic prizes donated by generous local businesses, including a craft ale hamper from Stone Mini Market.

For more information, or to register your interest in taking part in the event, email footballontheflats@gmail.com.
