Former Wales international Robbie Savage believes that Tottenham star Gareth Bale should leave White Hart Lane in order to become even better.
The winger has been in sensational form this season and has scored 19 goals in 35 games for the Lilywhites leading to comparisons with Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo.
“Tottenham fans will not thank me for saying this, but Gareth Bale will have to quit Spurs if he is to fulfil his potential,” Savage wrote in his Mirror column.
“Tottenham know that, one day, they may not be able to hang on to Bale because, in my opinion, he is already among the top six players in the world – and his stock is rising.
“For Bale to reach the next level, and become a superstar in his own right, I’m afraid he will have to move from White Hart Lane.”
Andre Villas-Boas thinks Tottenham may have succeeded in their final day push for Champions League football had referee Andre Marriner awarded Gareth Bale a penalty - rather than book him for diving.
