Chelsea manager Rafael Benitez would not be drawn on the arrival of striker Demba Ba from Newcastle United.
The Senegal hit man is expected to sign before the midday deadline on Friday and go straight into the starting line-up against Southampton in the FA Cup third round.
“Until I hear something official I cannot say anything anything about Ba,” he said.
“The club is working on getting a player in.
“If we can get Ba I hope he will be available for Saturday. But I cannot say much until its official.”
Benitez will use the arrival of Ba as a means of shaking up his side. He might even play Ba along with Torres.
“If you have another striker, you can play them both, if you want to rest a striker you can if you want to,” he said.
