Greens unbeaten in five league matche since their last clash with Tanners at end of January

Hendon make the trip to Leatherhead in the Bostik Premier on Saturday, looking for a return to winning ways after a frustrating draw at home to Lowestoft Town last weekend.

The Greens saw their play-off hopes take a hit after failing to get the better of the Trawler Boys.

Gary McCann’s men fell behind in just the ninth minute when Jake Reed opened the scoring for the Suffolk club.

That was how things stayed until the 63rd minute when Zak Joseph levelled for the Silver Jubilee Park outfit with his first league goal since January 27.

No side could find a winner in the time that remained, with Hendon having to settle for a share of the spoils against Lowestoft.

Despite only taking a point, the Greens were able to keep their place in the top five, with a point advantage over Staines Town, who sit just outside the play-offs.

McCann’s men do not have to wait too long for their next league encounter against Town, with the sides set to meet at Crown Meadow on Tuesday.

Before that, though, the Silver Jubilee Park outfit face a trip to Leatherhead, who also still harbour hopes of making the play-offs this term.

Ahead of Saturday’s match at Fetcham Grove, just four points separate the sides, but Hendon will want to extend that advantage with a victory in Surrey.

The Greens will also head to the Tanners desperate for an element of revenge after suffering a 4-1 loss in the last league meeting between the teams at the end of January.

An Ashley Nathaniel-George strike proved to be scant consolation for McCann’s men in that clash as they slipped to a heavy defeat.

It was a disappointing loss for the Silver Jubilee Park outfit, but they have been unbeaten in the league since then, a run of five matches.

Hendon will hope that run does not come to an end when they make the trip to Leatherhead on Saturday.

And if it remains in tact after the weekend, the next challenge for the Greens will be extending that run when they make the trip to Lowestoft on Tuesday.
