Transfer News: Real Betis manager Pepe Mel has warned Manchester City and Chelsea that Benat Etxebarria will only be allowed to leave the club if his €20million release clause is met.
The 25-year-old midfielder has 18 months left on his contract and Premier League clubs have contemplated making a cut price offer but manager Pepe Mel insists that this will not happen.
“Benat’s clause is €20million and he will only leave for €20million,” Mel said.
“To sell him for anything less would be a disaster. The club must defend its position and Benat knows that. To be able to go the market and find a replacement, the only number is €20million.
“He has one more year left on his contract and he can fulfill that.”
