Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger hopes to have Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil back to face Chelsea next Sunday.

The Gunners were without arguably their best two players as they forced a 0-0 draw at Stoke on Sunday.

Chances were few and far between, but both goalkeepers looked unbeatable and a draw was a fair result, keeping the Gunners top of the table.

Wenger knows it has been a tough week for his squad and hopes to have key players back soon.

“There is no team in the world that wouldn’t miss Ozil,” Wenger told SkySports.

“We are used to having him there. If we had Mesut, it would have been a different game.

“I hope to have one or two back next week and then the long term players are also getting closer.

“I hope Sanchez and Ozil will be back next week.”

Wenger was pleased to see how his team coped with the direct style of Stoke.

“I am pleased with the spirit that we showed again. We have two very tough away games in four days,” he said.

“Stoke wanted to surprise us with their direct game, and we had to fight.

“You can lose and win that sort of game. They surprised us with their direct game. We dealt with them quite well but we were under pressure at the end.

“Giroud had a great chance, Campbell too. Butland and Cech both had good games.”
