Far be it for us at Gazette Towers to say we told you so – but Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger confirmed transfer target Konstantinos Mavropanos was a done deal at his post-match press conference after Wednesday evening’s 2-2 draw with Chelsea.

With the club officially announcing the news on Thursday afternoon we could allow ourselves a knowing fist-bump in satisfaction. But we won’t.

All we’ll say is that we revealed the Greek defender was set to sign earlier this week – so stick with us for our comprehensive transfer round-up which cuts through fact from fiction surrounding all the players the North London giants are linked with.

Speaking of the long-serving Frenchman, Wenger promised world class replacements should Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil leave North London.

If he pulls off a deal for Borussia Dortmund star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang he will have delivered on that promise.

According to Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Arsenal will pursue Aubameyang this month should Sanchez leave the Emirates.

No price is quoted but for a man with 21 goals in 23 games this season, one would image it will be a hefty fee.

The Gabon international is set to fly to Marbella tomorrow for BVB’s winter training camp after jetting out to Dubai for Christmas, so if you spot Arsene on a flight to the Spanish party city, hopefully it’s to complete this deal rather than to have a knees-up.

Could an Arsenal target we covered earlier this week be about to make a move?

Daniele Rugani’s agent, Furio Fedele, told Italian sports broadcaster Premium Sport the following when asked about his client’s future. “Knowing Juventus, I fear Rugani’s adventure at the Bianconeri has reached its end credits.”

If this is true, its time for Arsenal to make a blockbuster move for the 23-year-old.

Back up the other end of the pitch, Arsenal are reportedly chasing a Paris Saint-Germain attacker.

No, not Julian Draxler unfortunately, but Goncalo Guedes.

The Portuguese attacker – who joined the Parisian outfit from Benfica this time last year – has spent the first half of this season on-loan at Spanish side Valencia, scoring three times and assisting five in 13 La Liga appearances.

Madrid-based newspaper Marca has reported that the Gunners have been offered the 21-year-old for a fee in the region of £31m as PSG look to balance the books after a record breaking summer transfer window in order to comply with UEFA’s financial fair play rules.

Another player we spoke about earlier in the week was Riyad Mahrez. If reports are to be believed, Arsenal could have been handed a big boost in their pursuit of the Algerian.

Weekly magazine, France Football, are reporting that Leicester City have cooled their stance on retaining the 26-year-old but only if a suitable offer – likely to be around £50m – comes in for the winger. Mahrez himself still holds a desire to join a top six club.

Could we see him in N5 very soon?

With Ozil’s future at Arsenal in doubt, could Wenger be about to replace a German number 10 with another German number 10?

Kerem Demirbay, valued at around £10 million, could be on his way from TSG Hoffenheim to the Gunners.

Demirbay would be swapping village life for big city life upon joining the Gunners, the technically gifted midfielder is also linked with Everton.
