EXCLUSIVE: Arsenal starlet Dan Crowley says he is still undecided on whether to declare his international allegiance to England or Ireland.

Crowley, who turns 17 this week, has Irish grandparents and represented their homeland at Under-15 level, but has since played 13 times for England Under-17s.

The midfield playmaker, who scored for the Gunners’ Under-21 side in their friendly at Harrow Borough on Saturday, said: “I don’t really know – I’m going to see what happens.

“My grandparents are Irish. I played for Ireland and when I was Under-16 I went for trials with England and got in. I’m still young and I’d never rule anything out because you just don’t know what’s round the corner.”

The Gunners signed the playmaker from Aston Villa for close to £1million last summer and he is determined to make his mark in the Premier League.

He said: “It’s a different life down in London – a lot different to Aston Villa. I’m playing for different coaches and with different players so I just have to get used to it.

“I don’t feel any pressure – I just play football. I’m good friends with Jack [Wilshere]. He is a good player to look up to.

“I like playing the No10 role just off the striker – but if they need me to play in midfield I don’t mind dropping in.”

Crowley ran the show against Harrow Borough, scoring the second goal, and was quick to reassure Arsenal fans that despite limping off at full-time it was just his new boots giving him some discomfort.

“I did both my ankles last season, which ruled me out for three months – it was hard for the mind but I had to get used to it,” he said.

The teenager says there is a buzz around the club after winning the FA Cup and bringing in Alexis Sanchez.

“It was massive – we needed a lift and there’s more to come hopefully,” he said. “We’ve made some great signings – I want to try and get in the first team.”
