Arsenal set to post bigger attendance in Europa League dead rubber against BATE Borisov than Spurs in Champions League at Wembley

Arsenal are set to have sold more tickets for their Europa League dead rubber match against BATE Borisov than Spurs Champions League match at Wembley on Wednesday evening.

The Islington Gazette understands more than 51,000 tickets have been sold for the Gunners last Group H game in Europe’s second tier competition compared to the attendance for the Lillywhites match against Apoel Nicosia which was given as 42,000.

Wednesday’s Champions League crowd was still more than 2,000 fewer than Arsenal’s lowest of the season, 44,064 in the third round of the Carabao Cup against Doncaster in September.

For comparison Spurs attendance at the same stage of the cup was 23,926 against Barnsley at Wembley despite the club offering tickets at £10 and £5.

However, Arsenal’s bitter rivals can point to the fact that they do hold the record attendance for a Europa League match of 80,465 against Gent at Wembley in February in a 2-2 draw which saw them crash out of the competition after a 2-2, following a 1-0 defeat in the first leg in Belgium.
