The talented playmaker scored one and had a hand in substitute Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s brace which clinched the game after the Gunners had fallen behind to Ben Chilwell’s cross following a deflection off Hector Bellerin to wrong-foot Bernd Leno.

Despite going a goal down on 31 minutes Arsenal are made of sterner stuff these days and replied on the stroke of half-time after a wonderfully flowing move.

Mesut Ozil, fully recovered from a back spasm drove forward down the right flank before playing a ball out wide to the rampaging Bellerin.

The pacy defender fed the German who had continued his run into the box before angling the ball across Kasper Schmeichel and into the net via the far post to level at 1-1 60 seconds before the interval.

Arsenal weren’t finished as they once again hit a visiting team with a brace of goals in a matter of seconds.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang replaced Stephan Lichtsteiner on 61 minutes. A mere 120 seconds later he had put Arsenal 2-1 ahead after finishing off a flowing move.

Ozil once again fed Bellerin who in turn crossed the ball into the box for the former Borussia Dortmund striker to tap home.

Three minutes after that the Gabon strike made it 3-1 after finishing from close range following an Ozil cross to seal the game.
