Seam pair James Baker and Tom Wakeford led the way as North London collected their second win of the season with a five-wicket success at Harrow Town in Division Three of the Middlesex County Cricket League.

Baker returned figures of 4-50 and Wakeford finished with 3-34, while spinners Ted Greally and Peter Monar both chipped in to dismiss Town for just 150.

Contributions all the way down from the batsmen then saw NL home and lifted them into the top half of the table.

North London captain Jack Atchinson won the toss and had no hesitation in sending the home side in, but Gihan Herath (20) and Prashantkumar Patel (11) gave them a solid start.

However, NL’s bowlers soon made inroads as Baker accounted for Herath and Heshan Morakawa (1), while Patel and Arslan Khalid (9) fell to Wakeford.

Both seamers picked up another wicket apiece before Greally got in on the act, bowling Manhar Patel (21) and having Gishan Herath (11) caught by Jack Godfrey-Wood.

North London were held up by home captain Kamlesh Desai, who struck 41 and, in conjunction with last man Ankit Patel (13 not out), lifted his side to 150 before Baker bowled him to finish the innings.

The visitors looked solid in reply as Monar (28) and Atchinson (30) laid firm foundations before both were dismissed by Mehul Gokhani (3-42).

The baton was taken up by Sam Bardon, who hit 35 before he fell to Desai, and Rosh Tennakoon (16), who became Gokhani’s third victim.

Godfrey-Wood departed for a duck, pinned lbw by Desai, but Hussain Shabbir (24no) and Matt Hoyle (7no) steered their side to victory in the 51st over.

North London are holding their annual six-a-side tournament on Sunday at their headquarters in Montenotte Road, Crouch End.

The junior competition (Under-eights to Under-11s) gets under way at around 10am, with the senior tournament scheduled to begin at 1pm.

Refreshments are available throughout the day, with breakfast served in the morning and a barbecue running through the afternoon. A raffle will be held at around 3pm.
