From a selfish point of view, we’d all like Steven Finn to play for Middlesex as often as possible – he’s a massive asset to us.

But, as his mates, we’re delighted to see Finny back in the England Test side and hopefully this can be a stepping stone for him to get back to where he wants to be.

Personally I think it’s the right time for England to bring him back. He’s worked extremely hard at his game, bowling with pace and control, and the 44 wickets he’s taken in the Championship are testament to that.

Not many guys in county cricket can bowl as well as Finny. It should be a quick wicket at Old Trafford and he can get bounce, so it’ll be interesting to see what tactics England employ.

Of course, it means we’ll have to manage without Finny and Ravi Patel, who’s in the England Lions squad, for our next few 50-over games. The two of them have been our banker bowlers in one-day cricket this year.

However, we’re feeling refreshed after a few days off and we’re keen to build on last week’s victory against Surrey.

Having come close on a couple of occasions recently and fallen just short, to get over the line was a great feeling. We’d also been on a long losing streak in one-day games at Lord’s, so it was good to change that too.

Morgy played a proper captain’s knock, showing why he’s the best one-day player in England.

He knows when to take the attack to the bowlers and when to push the singles and, when you’ve got a guy like him in the team, you’ve always got a chance of winning.

Next up are Somerset. They’re always a fantastic one-day team, with plenty of players who can change a game, and they bat down a long way.

We’re going to have to play really well to beat them and make sure we keep our campaign alive. But if we can, there’s no reason why we can’t go on and get some momentum.
