We’ve been nailed about our batting for the last year or two, with people saying how poor it’s been, but the guys have really stepped up this season.

Whether it’s been Morgy, Chris Rogers, Robbo, Joe, Dexy, Simmo or more recently Nick Gubbins, everyone’s put their hand up at some stage. It looks good that we’re maturing and getting to a situation where we could all score runs consistently.

Obviously I’m pleased to have contributed in the last couple of games as well. I think the Northants innings was one of the more important I’ve played, not only for the team but also from a personal point of view.

It was the most nervous I’ve been in the 90s, knowing I’d been there a couple of times and not gone on. So I desperately needed a hundred and I’m sure it showed in the way I played.

I was lucky enough to get over the line eventually and it meant a lot to me – although obviously you want to score hundreds that win games and it was disappointing we didn’t manage to do that.

It probably was inevitable that Crooky would be the one to come back to Lord’s and ruin our chances of getting the win.

He’s a fantastic cricketer – perhaps it’s not surprising that someone who can bat, bowl and field as well as he can made the difference.

Again, it was frustrating that we couldn’t get over the line in our Twenty20 game against Glamorgan. I think we were 10 runs short, to be honest.

It could have been different if they’d had to get 10 more off that last over, but our fielding was horrendous – we let ourselves down.

We have to start thinking about the 50-over cup as well. Although we haven’t played 50-over cricket for a long time, it should suit us better than the T20.

Every captain has their own thoughts on one-day cricket. It’ll be interesting to see how Morgy sets out our game plan and we’ll prepare accordingly.

Having a brand new kitchen is something that lots of people want but can only dream of. Sadly keeping up to date and making our living spaces as nice as they can be is a costly and incredibly stressful business. Even a fresh coat of paint makes all the difference but isn’t easy or quick.
