Highgate maintained their 17-point lead at the top of the Middlesex League Division Two table with a comfortable win over Harrow St Marys.

Shane McNamara and captain Syed Muazam Ali both scored 30, as tailender Malik Shahid Sadiq hit three sixes in his unbeaten 28 off 17 balls.

Scott Elstone (25) also made a start as the visitors, who elected to bat first, were dismissed for 180 in the 44th over.

And that proved more than enough as Craig Gourlay (4-14) and Misem Ali Syed Zaidi (4-27) shared bowling honours to secure a 70-run victory.

Highgate host struggling North London this weekend, after their neighbours enjoyed a vital win against relegation rivals Indian Gymkhana.

Jordan Gregory (30) put on 54 with Simon Mintoft, who added another 55 with captain Hussain Shabbir to reach 43 from 69 balls.

James Battcock hit a six and five fours in his 42 from 35 balls, putting on 70 with Shabbir, who was eventually dismissed for 64, hitting eight fours, as North London closed on 202-8.

Freddie Issitt made the breakthrough with the ball in Gymkhana’s reply, before Zila Jennings (3-23) reduced the visitors to 50-4.

Battcock (2-32) got in on the act, before Gregory ran through the lower order to finish with 4-24 and secure an 83-run triumph that lifted North London out of the bottom two.

Hornsey dropped to the foot of the table instead following their 29-run defeat against Eastcote.

Jack Goldberg (2-25) had their best bowling figures as Eastcote made a challenging 247-5 from their 45 overs.

But Hornsey overcame the early losses of Patrick Joseph and Tahmid Islam, which left them 8-2, to suggest victory might be on the cards.

Paul Weekes put on 154 for the third wicket with Garfield Struthers, who hit 10 fours in his 72, and saw Joe Emanuel smash 30 off 15 balls, including a six and five fours.

But Weekes fell for 80, after hitting 10 boundaries, to leave Hornsey 203-5 and the lower order then fell away as Matthew Savage (5-28) and Aman Lotay (3-19) combined to devastating effect to seal the win for the hosts.
