After drawing with leaders Enfield on June 30, Paul Weekes inspired Hornsey to success at Eastcote last weekend

Hornsey returned to winning ways in the Middlesex County League Division Two on Saturday with a seven-wicket victory at Eastcote.

After drawing with leaders Enfield the weekend before, Garfield Struthers men were eager to keep up their good form and make it three wins from four fixtures.

In the end, Hornsey did it comfortably, but only after more heroics from inspiration all-rounder Paul Weekes.

Eastcote looked on course for a decent score when they were 75-1, but two wickets fell for no runs and then it turned into the Weekes show.

Hornsey’s star man picked up 6-16 from 11 overs to help dismiss the hosts for 116 in the 36th over.

After starring with the ball, Weekes then scored 56 not out to get his team home with Joe Emanuel hitting a rapid 45 off only 41 balls too.

The win keeps Hornsey in third position ahead of this weekend’s home clash with Winchmore Hill.

Hill are eighth in the table with 32 points from their first 10 games of the season.
