Abel Sinko-Uribe announced himself as a new star for Camden Swiss Cottage, winning three gold medals at the Olympic Aquatic Centre in the London Regional Age Group competition.

The club’s best young swimmers headed to Stratford for the meet, which was held held over two weekends – and 12-year-old Sinko-Uribe won three events, all in personal best times.

He clocked 1 minutes 1.21 seconds in the 100m freestyle, 2:15.18 in the 200m freestyle and 1:21.99 in the 100m breaststroke.

Meanwhile, Anne Tavierne, 13, showed brilliant versatility and stamina to take gold in the 100m backstroke in 1:08.51, silver in the 100m freestyle in 1:01.35 and bronze in the 200m freestyle in 2:12.22.

Even more impressively, each of her times were inside the national qualifying time (NQT) mark.

Tavierne also finished just outside the medals in fourth place in the 400m freestyle – clocking another NQT in the process – and the 200m individual medley.

Alex Borisov, 12, powered to victory in the 200m breaststroke in 2:54.66 as well as taking silver in the shorter 100m sprint in 1:22.50 – both times beating the national mark.

Firmly established as one of Camden’s leading swimmers, Indigo Mathews took silver in the 400m individual medley and bronze in the 200m event, as well as making the finals in five other events.

She was fifth in the 100m freestyle, sixth in the 100m butterfly, sixth again in the 200m backstroke, seventh in the 200m freestyle and seventh in the 400m freestyle.

Tavierne and Mathews teamed up with Ann-Sophie Schmitt and Natalia Kaczmarczyk to win gold in the 4x100m freestyle relay, beating Hillingdon in a tight finish.

The girls also clinched silver in the 4x200m relay and, in the 4x100m medley relay, Mathews and Tavierne were joined by the Hookway sisters, Maddy and Darcey, to also finish in silver medal position.

Maddy Hookway, 14, made it onto the podium individually as well, powering to silver in the 100m breaststroke, as did 13-year-old Schmitt, who clinched a bronze in the 200m backstroke.

There were additional fourth-placed finishes for 11-year-old Clementine Butler Brown, Borisov, Schmitt and Maddy Hookway – plus a host of other finalists.

They included Anna Podurgiel, 12, Mika Fitzpatrick-Suen, 12, Jonathan Novak 12, Terence McAvoy, 13, Darcey Hookway, 14, Kaczmarczyk, 14, James Costello, 14, and Joseph Wildisen, 14.
