Green Party leader Natalie Bennett launched her bid to become London’s first Green MP Friday of last week – with the party looking to gain support from dissatisfied Liberal Democrat supporters and Labour voters unsure of their new candidate.

Ms Bennett, who lives in Somers Town, has been the leader of the Green Party since 2012.

She is now standing for the seat of Holborn and St Pancras, where she was a candidate in the 2010 election. The launch took place at the October Gallery in Holborn.

She said: “Dissatisfaction with the three largest parties is widespread. With a majority of the 28 per cent Lib Dem vote from 2010 looking for a new home, and Frank Dobson loyalists sizing up a new Labour candidate, we’ve an opportunity to build towards being serious contenders.”
