‘I am committed to Hampstead’ - Lib Dem Linda Chung to carry on community work outside council

Liberal Democrat Linda Chung insists she is still “committed to Hampstead” after losing her council seat in Hampstead Town ward.

Ms Chung, who was first elected to the ward at a 2008 by-election, came a close fourth in the May 22 election – trailing Conservative candidate Tom Currie by 124 votes.

Despite losing her seat, Ms Chung, of Langland Gardens, Hampstead, intends to carry on her work in the community, as well focussing more on her recruitment consultancy role.

“I am committed to Hampstead, I’m still here,” she said. “I was a real person before I came to Hampstead.

“I loved the time I did and I wouldn’t have missed it for the world. I will carry on – as I always did – working with people to make Hampstead better.

“I will continue [to work] on various issues that will improve the general environment and services for Hampstead people and make sure our amenities aren’t eroding away.

“And supporting the voluntary groups that do such a fantastic job in sustaining our library and our elderly people resource centre.”
