Hampstead and Kilburn candidates put to the test by UCS pupils

Parliamentary hopefuls were put to the test by their prospective future constituents during a visit to a Hampstead school.

The candidates bidding to replace retiring Hampstead and Kilburn MP Glenda Jackson at May’s general election attended a special hustings at University College School (UCS) in Frognal, Hampstead, on Friday last week.

Labour’s Tulip Siddiq, Conservative Cllr Simon Marcus, Liberal Democrat Maajid Nawaz and Green Party candidate Dr Rebecca Johnson fielded questions from UCS pupils and students invited from UCL Academy, in Swiss Cottage, on the day.

ITV political editor Libby Wiener chaired the hustings.

The economy, freedom of speech, tuition fees, community cohesion and the NHS were among the topics discussed during the morning event.
