Families “born and bred” in Camden should get priority for housing and school places, the chairman of Camden Ukip says.

The Brent and Camden branch of the UK Independence Party has pledged to support local businesses by proposing a one-hour free parking slot for shoppers and to continue to oppose HS2 on a local and national level, if it wins seats in Camden.

Chairman Magnus Nielsen, 64, said the party hopes to have at least one Ukip candidate elected in all 18 Camden wards – despite only fielding eight candidates so far.

But Mr Nielsen, of Fairfax Road, South Hampstead, said this is a realistic goal. “We are going in with all guns blazing,” the professional tourist guide said.

“We don’t have any seats in Camden but the strength of support we have had in the past few months suggests we are going to get councillors on the council. We are looking forward to great success.”

Mr Nielsen stood for Hampstead and Kilburn in the 2010 general election but received just 408 votes.

In the 2010 local elections, Ukip won 0.1 per cent of the vote.

Top three pledges:

To work towards the opposition of

HS2

To support local businesses

To give priority for housing and schools to local residents who have “links with the area – I mean people born and bred in Camden”
