Could Paddington be about to become the new King’s Cross? The once overlooked transport hub has been undergoing a renaissance of late, the latest sign of which is today’s announcement of Parker House.

Property developers the Linton Group are launching a suite of 19 refurbished luxury apartments on Cuthbert Street, just off Edgeware Road in zone one.

Prices start at just £570,000, and buyers won’t have to wait long as the homes will be available to move in later in the year.

Gary Linton, managing director of Linton Group commented: “This is such an exciting time for Linton Group, we always strive to set the benchmark for quality in the area and we believe we have done so with Parker House. Paddington is a very exciting area to be working in at the moment and we are extremely proud of the scheme”

The property developer is the brains behind the Maple Building, Kentish Town’s first luxury apartment block, so he knows a thing or two about bringing luxe living to areas on the up.

Paddington already has excellent overground and underground rail links, and with Crossrail due to open there in 2018 Parker House residents will be ahead of the game.

Should you wish to get around under your own steam the apartments come with a 25 year car club subscription for new residents, and offer secure cycle storage.

Despite the obvious draw of the theatres, shops and restaurants on offer in central London, the most exclusive addresses have typically been at a respectful distance from the bright lights. But for downsizers or young professionals who would rather be closer to the action (Parker House is a brisk 35 minute walk from Oxford Circus) without compromising on accommodation, luxury developments such as this provide a happy compromise.

Closer to home, the canals of Little Venice, the green of Lord’s Cricket Ground and the shops and galleries of Marylebone are all within easy walking distance, and if you miss the breezy heights of NW3 then the Heath is a mere 30 minute bus and overground journey away.

Named for the original architect, Parker House will retain its timber sash windows and brick façade. At street level, the elegant Corinthian columns in the neoclassical style will remain in situ, giving the exterior a certain gravitas.

With ceiling heights of up to 3.4 m the spaces are sure to feel particularly airy, and several will have access to ground floor courtyards, balconies or terraces.

The apartment interiors have been designed by the Linton Group’s sister company, Gordon-Duff & Linton. Specialising in classic interior design, the apartments promise modern style whilst remaining sympathetic to the original architecture.

The house formerly known as 5A Cuthbert Street is being bought into the 21st century by Clive Sall Architecture, who have created a range of one and two bed apartments, ranging in size from 436 to 1286 sq ft.

Prices start at £570,000 for a one bedroom apartment, and £875,000 for a two bedroom, and will be available for sale at the open house event on Saturday April 22.
